Finding Momentum through Rest
Life will always be busy and throw curveballs. Some more familiar than others, but all of them will likely test you before you recognize the lesson in it.
The last few months have brought about a new set of challenges for all of us. And they aren’t simple. These are life, financial, medical, and social justice challenges that are heavy. Some days I was just pushing through, questioning even the most common tasks. I was fried in so many ways that I was not responding to things with the passion and logic I normally have. My soul was so very tired.
So I stepped back. I’ve taken time to focus my priority list, ask for help when needed, delegate when I can, and allow myself to just enjoy the projects in front of me {not always think about the next}. Over time I was able to gather momentum and find passion in things that I was quickly losing. As a society we allow ourselves to think that we have to have an immediate answer or solution. On the contrary, taking time to reflect is how you can prioritize and make meaningful moves. Fear based decisions rarely have lasting power.
Make sure to give yourself some grace and take a break when the opportunity presents itself. There’s so much in the world that we could lose ourselves in. Do not become consumed with social media {I totally get the irony of my saying that on a social platform; but seriously...post and run. Don’t stay for the chaos if you’re not up for it}. As I’ve been out experiencing life I’m recognizing how much beauty there is and that together we are and can continue to make far greater changes working together on real tasks {rather than constantly debunking 7 year old garbage “articles” from any old iboughtadomaintoactlegitimate.com}
By taking a step away it allows all of us to take a deep breath and renew our individual passions. Mental health breaks are a thing. Take one when you can. Hopefully you’ll come out feeing like I do; reinvigorated and ready to take on the next challenge.
